Once a relic of the past, a defunct railroad track is thoughtfully transformed into a winding, meandering trail — a seamless path that guides visitors through a picturesque setting, blending the natural allure of a woodland with the vibrant charm of a meadow-like sculpture garden.

Along the way, bursts of color emerge from artfully designed steps, each painted in vibrant hues that echo the surrounding flora and sculptures. Benches in complementary shades are placed throughout, inviting visitors to pause. To accommodate the site's varied topography, two carefully designed sets of stairs and an ADA-compliant ramp extend from the southern corner of the sculpture ramble, prioritizing inclusivity and making the journey accessible to all.

Two Places to Gather

The View That Guides Us

A captivating long perspective of the transformed railroad path as it meanders through the sculpture garden. Adjacent to the Georgia Museum of Art, the trail becomes a canvas for creative expression, showcasing rotating and permanent art installations. Vibrant street-style art pays homage to the existing art beneath the bridge over the train tracks, while native low-meadow plantings in the UGA color palette infuse the garden with a sense of place.

A Junction of Belonging

The heart of the gathering space, welcoming visitors to pause and connect at the base of the steps. Sloped woodland plantings envelop the area, creating a natural sense of enclosure that feels intimate yet open, while bold, colorful site furnishings provide comfortable seating and pops of visual interest.
